Verdant: Moon Gallery ISS Test Mission Print
Verdant: Moon Gallery ISS Test Mission Print
This limited edition giclée print (25 of 15 x 15cm prints on 100% cotton paper) is a celebration of the miniature sculpture that will travel to the International Space Station for the historic Moon Gallery ISS Test Mission in February 2022. The first gallery in space will include 64 international artists’ work in a custom-made clear grid unit mounted in a display box, provided by Nanoracks, for the ISS resupply rocket. An advocate of art/science initiatives, I am hoping to raise about £500 to help fund the mission, placing art at the centre of space exploration. Each purchase is supporting this pioneering effort that carries important values for humanity into space. The Moon Gallery is aiming to place a similar gallery with 100 artworks on the moon as early as 2025 and Verdant has been shortlisted to be among them.
The print shows a close-up view of Verdant, an 8 x 15mm glass and thread sculpture, and the leafy green tree outside my studio – the initial inspiration for basing the sculpture on the chlorophyll molecule. Below this is a NASA image taken from the International Space Station showing a green aurora and an emerging sunrise as it orbits the earth. Each print will come with a signed certificate on the back (confirming the edition you’ve purchased) and text explaining the artwork concept. Buyers will be kept up to date about the launch and any developing news about the project in an exclusive newsletter.
