Made in Joshua Tree National Park high desert in Southern California, this series of cyanotype prints were made at Oasis Mara where Native Americans lived until 1900. Dried fan palms and sand were placed on paper hand-coated with photo sensitive solution and exposed in sunlight on the desert floor. Local legend states that when a mountain tribe were struggling to produce baby boys, they were told by a medicine man to find the first water in the desert and settle there. Fathers were instructed to plant a palm tree when each boy was born - the first year 29 boys were born and later the town Twentynine Palms was named after the story. A5 size, mailed flat with protective materials.
